Bear

I started working on the bear because I wanted to try working with epoxy resin. I wasn't very impressed with it, but working on the bear was otherwise a great joy.

I found the basic inspiration on Pinterest, but I modified it a lot.

The claws are made of self-hardening modeling clay, the eyes are glass cabochons, the honeycomb is a printed photo in resin. And the stump is from our garden - the remains of a tree we had to cut down.

I am most happy about where the teddy bear has gone from me. He is standing in the waiting room of the veterinary clinic, where he tries to cheer up the worried owners of animal patients. And that is the best life he could have.

I also shared the bear on social media with this short story:

" A few nights ago, when it was raining and blowing so hard that the trees in the garden were bending, someone timidly scratched at our door. There was a bear standing behind it. Or rather, a small, wet and completely scared little bear.

We took him home and he has been living with us ever since. We know nothing about him. We don't know where he came from, what he experienced there, and what drove him from there to our village. We only know that he doesn't want to let go of that giant honeycomb at any cost. He always carries it with him.

He is quiet, kind and patient. Most of the time we hardly see him, he just stands there silently. For fun, we once put a book we were reading on him and it turned out that he didn't mind at all. On the contrary. Now he is at our heels whenever we hold something in our hands and offers his honeycomb as a side table. And then he just patiently waits for us to need those things again.

He's probably grateful to us for accepting him into our den."
